Student Support

We are here to help and provide advice when you need it. The main areas of this support are outlined below in alphabetical order. Student Support is provided by both Central Saint Martins and the University's Student Services. 

Our staff at Central Saint Martins (see below for location and contact details and our opening hours where relevant), and at the Student Centre at 272 High Holborn, offer a one-stop shop for advice and information. You are welcome to visit Services at any of the University of the Arts London colleges. Please check the College websites for contact details and opening hours, or contact us for more information.

Advice and funding

Student advisers can help you with a range of financial and other issues whilst you are a student, including grants, student loans and benefits, and can also give advice on immigration matters and other areas specifically relevant to international students, such as law in the UK, funding, etc.

Chaplaincy

The chaplains offer personal and spiritual support whatever your faith, or none, and are available to anyone who needs a confidential, non-judgemental listening ear. Amongst other things they offer opportunities to explore the dynamic relationships between life and faith, belief and practice, spirituality, art and creativity.

Counselling

College life can be exciting but it can also be stressful. Confidential counselling is available to all University of the Arts London students. If there is anything that is getting in the way of you enjoying life or getting on with your studies, then counselling may help.

Disability Team

We take a positive approach so that disabled students can complete their studies successfully and enjoyably. We recognize that disability can include many issues including physical impairments, hidden disability, sensory impairments, dyslexia, health or mental health issues. Please contact us before you start or at any time during your course if there is anything you would like to discuss with us.

Dyslexia support

If you think you might be dyslexic we can arrange screening and testing. If you find that you are, or already know you are dyslexic, we can work with you to identify your specific needs in relation to your course.

English language support

Free English language support is offered to students who are non-native speakers of English, ie if English is not your first or mother language, studying a full time course at the University.

Enterprise and Employability

The new service will bring together the work of Creative Careers, ECCA, Artquest and Own-it and will be coordinated to focus more closely on the specific needs of UAL students and emerging graduates.

General study support

For any student who needs extra help all courses have some general study support available, to improve skills and confidence in particularly relevant areas. Study support may be offered in group sessions or individually, according to your subject and needs.

The Student Health Advisers can offer support and information on specific health and mental health issues while you are a student.
