Beaded and Feathered Fashion Jewellery
Anastasia Young MA (RCA)
This course is a perfect introduction to designing and making your own collection of beaded fashion jewellery that has a professional finish. Students will learn how to string beads using a range of materials such as nylon, tigertail and ribbons to create beautiful wearable pieces. You will learn basic jewellery making skills such as cutting, soldering and shaping metal and these skills will be used to make your own silver findings such as clasps, earring hooks and links to complement your beaded jewellery. The projects will include multi-strand beaded necklace, pearl stringing and cluster earrings. All materials will be provided and will include, beads, silver, wire and ribbons.
Anastasia Young is a practising jewellery designer and artist, and author of 'The Jewellery Materials Sourcebook', 'The Guide to Gemstone Settings' (A & C Black) and 'The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques' (Thames & Hudson). She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins.

- Clippings from fashion magazines that you feel reflect the current trend in jewellery and fashion
- An apron
- Sketchbook
- Pencils
- Eraser
- Sensible footwear ie. no 'open toe' sandals
- Hair band (if you have long hair)
Most other materials are provided however please bring:
- Beads
- Ribbons
- Any other materials you would like to work with
