Styling for Home Decoration

Styling for Home Decoration

Tara Larkin

This course aims to teach the role of the interior stylist from the domestic home to the corporate market. The basic principles of what a stylist does will be analysed and its various vocations will be discussed. You will learn how to accessorise a space, source products, interpret client's requirements and come up with design concepts. There will be a basic breakdown of styling methods and the skills involved, such as; colour, form, texture, pattern, proportion, and balance. Magazine analysis will be used in the group to focus on these principles. Trend forecasting and methods of verbal and visual presentation will also be discussed. You will work on two projects; a small photoshoot working with a photographer and a client led domestic interior brief. You are expected to research the project and present your concepts and ideas on lifestyle boards.

Tara Larkin is an experienced freelance Interiors Stylist who has worked for a variety of magazines, newspapers, interiors companies and television. View her client list and examples of her work on www.interiorstylist.com
