Jewellery Making with Plastic and Metal

Jewellery Making with Plastic and Metal

Anastasia Youg

This course explores the use of several different types of plastics, and the ways in which they can be combined with silver. All the basic techniques for cutting, filing, polishing and constructing forms from both plastics and metal will be taught, as well as cold-joining techniques such as riveting. You will also be shown how to make a simple mould of an object which will then be cast in resin. The course materials are all provided, and include acrylic, resin and silicone as well as silver. This course is suitable for students at any level.

Anastasia Young is a practising jewellery designer and artist, and author of 'The Jewellery Materials Sourcebook' (A & C Black) and 'The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques' (Thames & Hudson). She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, where she lectures on the BA Jewellery course.
