Mosaics For Interiors
Adam Stanley
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the techniques of mosaic making, a variety of styles and the materials and tools used. The focus is how to apply this versatile art form to a variety of interior settings and the goal is to provide students with the knowledge to work effectively and confidently in this medium and a framework of skills on which they can base their own creative expression. They will have the opportunity to experiment with colour, tone and a mixture of glass and ceramic tiles whilst creating their own mosaics. Students will design and make a mosaic panel using the direct method before moving on to prepare a second mosaic in the reverse on paper to be transferred to a tile surface.
Adam Stanley is a practising mosaic artist who also runs mosaic courses in schools around the country. His work has been exhibited at the Salone del Mobile Satellite Furniture Fair in Milan and he regularly collaborates with interior designers and landscape architects. He studied Modern Languages at King's College Cambridge, theatre set design at Motley and mosaic at Mosaic Workshop.
