Play-Writing for Beginners

Play-Writing for Beginners

Simon Bowen

This course introduces you to the art of writing plays in a lively and stimulating atmosphere. Led by a professional playwright you will use a range of exercises and techniques to unlock your creativity; before you know it you will be generating your own original characters, developing dramatic relationships, writing dynamic dialogue and creating scenes and stories that engage an audience. As an important part of the process you will also have the opportunity to work with professional actors who will workshop a selection of what you write and give a small, informal performance of your favourite pieces at the end of the week. This course is a unique opportunity to kick-start or further your writing. We guarantee you will learn, have fun and feel inspired for the future! A good level of English is required for this course.

Simon Bowen's work as a writer began with Paines Plough, for whom he wrote 'Whitebaby' at The Bristol Old Vic and 'Waterloo', directed by Roxana Silbert.
