Acting for Absolute Beginners (Tuesday Evenings)
Simon Bowen
This course introduces you to the basics of acting. A hands-on practical approach gets the creative juices flowing and explores new and inventive ways to make you the next De Niro or, just as importantly, to aid self development. You will have lots of laughter, excitment and fun. If you think 'I wouldn't have the talent' but your instincts tell you differently, this is the course for you. The course consists of theatre games/exercises, improvisation, exploring character development and bringing a scene to life through solo and group work. This course is a great way to meet new people, explore new ways to communicate and develop new skills that you can use in life.
Simon Bowen's work as a writer began with Paines Plough, for whom he wrote 'Whitebaby' at The Bristol Old Vic and 'Waterloo', directed by Roxana Silbert. He has been a writer on attachment at the National Theatre Studio and was also writer on attachment at Soho Theatre from 2004-5. Simon's writing for BBC Radio includes 'From London With Love' starring Philip Glenister ('Life On Mars') and Claire Rushbrook ('Secrets and Lies'). He recently wrote and directed 'This Time' for The Miniaturists at The Arcola Theatre. Simon's play 'Free' was produced at The National Theatre starring Catherine McCormack, Nicola Walker and Andrew Lincoln, and directed by Thea Sharrock.
