Claire Robertson and Jet
Have you ever wanted to use a photo studio and studio lights to take more considered professional pictures? If so then this is the course for you. It is designed for students that are already familiar with the basics of photography who wish to advance their practice by learning the fundamentals of studio photography. Students will be introduced to the different studio lights commonly used in most professional studios and learn how to manipulate light using various techniques to achieve creative results.
This is a mainly practical course where students will be given a different brief each day. After a slide show and demonstration, students will use the studios and equipment to create their own shots with an informal review and discussion at the end of each day. the main focus of this course is to enable each student to familiarise themselves with the studio, gaining experience and confidence which will benefit and improve their overall photography skills and knowledge.
Claire Robertson graduated from Central Saint Martins and teaches on the BA Fashion Communication course. She is a photographer and fine artist and her fashion photography work lies within a documentary practice. She has documented the working process and catwalk collections backstage and in the studios of Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Hussein Chayalan, Maison Margiela and Viktor & Rolf amongst others. Her work has been published in a broad range of media, from book publications to magazines and on-line publication including i-D and Dazed Digital.
Jet studied at Glasgow School of Art. Assisted various artists and photographers including Wolfgang Tillmans and Rankin. Shoots commercially for editorial and design companies. Exhibits in group shows and one solo show at 1,0000mph project space. Currently working for Central Saint Martins photography department.
