Digital Cinematography

Abdul Mohammed, Esteban Gitton

The cinematographer is responsible for achieving the artistic and technical decisions needed to makes images for film that convey a story, its mood and its world. To do so, the cinematographer must master the use of light, cameras, grip equipment, the rules of composition and continuity as well as understanding the principal of storytelling, editing and film language. In this course you will learn the theory and apply the principles through practical workshops and seminars. Today digital camera technology is matured to the point where feature films are being made with this medium. You will learn digital camera technology and get hands on experience with this new emerging medium.

Abdul Mohammed is an artist working in film, audio and interactive digital media. He is an Apple Certified Trainer for Final Cut Pro, with experience in education and industry. At Central Saint Martins, Abdul works across many of the design-related MA courses.

Esteban Gitton is a producer/writer/director who won 3 Golden Awards at 2006 Kodak Commercial Award, Best international short fiction Film at Tehran Short Film Festival 2006, Best Visual Effect at Animex Awards 2007, nominated at Cannes 2007. He teaches filmmaking to BA graphic design courses at Central Saint Martins.
