Form a Hot Creative Team for Advertising
Francine Galea
Behind every great advertising campaign is a great creative team, comprising a copywriter and an art director. This course teaches the skills and processes necessary to work as a creative team in an advertising agency. As such, it is suitable for existing teams, or as a means by which an individual can possibly find his or her ideal creative partner. Teams will be set a realistic advertising brief and asked to come up with a big campaign idea that meets the brief. This idea will then be developed into a coherent series of campaign elements such as print ads, posters, a TV campaign, online/ digital banners or direct mail. Within this process, the course will highlight and discuss the different roles that copywriters and art directors play when it comes to producing a campaign that they have conceived together, as well as the way in which teams function as the most important element of any advertising agency. The course will show you how to put together a compelling portfolio that no advertising agency can ignore. Impartial advice regarding existing portfolios will also be given. Finally, you can look forward to many lively discussions as to what makes a good ad 'good' and a bad ad 'bad'. This course cannot always guarantee you will find your ideal creative partner, or that there will be equal numbers of art directors to match copywriters. This course can be taken on its own or is an excellent follow-on from the Introduction to Advertising course.
Francine Galea has over twenty years' of experience in advertising, working as an award winning art director/copywriter at a number of agencies including Euro RSCG, Saatchi & Saatchi and Grey.
