Taylor Glasby
This course is for budding music journalists who are intent on becoming freelancers writing across media. The industry is fast paced and highly competitive and this course will give intensive coverage on building up relationships with PR companies and their press officers, promoters, bands and their management. You will learn the finer points of forecasting trends, pitching ideas, self-editing, writing reviews, news and features for online and print journalism, as well as developing your own writing style and interview technique, and honing your skills to become capable of writing for various demographics. You will be continuously producing course work which will be appraised by your peers and tutor, and through guest speakers have the opportunity to question established journalists on their experiences. By the end of the course, you should have the know-how and basic portfolio with which to approach publications. You will be given materials throughout the course but will be required to purchase compulsory reading material such as magazines and newspapers.
Taylor Glasby began freelancing as a music journalist at fifteen, has a BA in Communications and is the Editor of Disorder magazine, which was described by Nick Logan as 'The Face for the Noughties'. She is also a band biographer and continues to write for various publications.
