Graphic Design - Intermediate

Sabine Fasching

Graphic design is an incredibly rewarding subject to study. Often wrongly perceived as the 'karaoke' of the visual arts, it seems to garner less respect as a creative discipline alongside lofty practices such as fine art or architecture. It also seems a less glamourous choice than photography or fashion. Graphic design is a subject for people with iPods, iMacs and skateboards right? Wrong! This course has been specifically designed to appeal to both non-creatives and practising designers alike and indeed is richer for having the mix. As with the 'Graphic Design - Beginners' course, the emphasis is on ideas and creative thinking as opposed to studio skills and techniques. Like its predecessor this course will also remain a 'computer-free-zone'. It is ideal for those who have completed an introductory course and it assumes that you have a familiarity with the creative process. There are visual exercises, visits to exhibitions, talks, 'crits' and of course, there is 'The Central Saint Martins Experience'. Designed to push you beyond the basics, this course is, most importantly, a lot of fun.

Sabine Fasching graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2006 and straight out of college got a position at the London design studio Farrow. She has since worked on a wide range of projects from music packaging, branding, art direction, web design to restaurant interiors. Designing for clients such as Sony Music, EMI, HMV and the Design Council - she has set up her own studio in 2010.
