Sketching and Photoshop

Aysar Ghassan

Are you interested in developing your understanding of perspective, form and shading? Do you find it difficult to express yourself using pen, paper and digital media? If you are about to embark on studying 3-D design or are simply keen to brush up your skills this course may well be for you. The course aims to explain and rationalise why shapes are shaded as they are and how to be confident in representing your design ideas. You will begin with looking at perspective and then move on to getting to grips with simple objects such as cubes and spheres in order to discuss and rationalise light sources, shadows, shading and highlights. Because everything we see around us is a collection of simple objects stuck together or taken away from one another, you will learn how to build more complex objects and start to apply our knowledge to them. You will also differentiate between matte and shiny objects. The course will end by looking at how we can achieve believable and impressive renderings in Photoshop using simple tools and techniques that you will be able to take forward and use to good effect after the course.

Aysar Ghassan is a design educator, a freelance designer and has worked in automotive studios across Europe.
