Art Summer School for 13-15 Year Olds
Session 1 and Session 2: Ilga Leimanis MA and others
To meet the needs of our younger audience Central Saint Martins has created a range of short, residential courses, held in Buckinghamshire, England. Using the talents of our Foundation and Short course tutors the courses are all three weeks long and involve practical designing and making. The aim is to give you an experience of art school and help you to build skills and develop new work for your portfolio.
Whether you consider yourself a complete beginner or if you are studying art at school, this course will give you an experience of fine art as taught at Central Saint Martins. Developing your confidence in experimentation, idea generation and creativity will be important activities alongside building your technical skills.
During the three weeks you will explore the following subjects, all supported by the relevant talks and discussions:
- Observational Drawing
- Mark-Making and Still Life
- Drawing from the Model
- Paint, Colour and Collage
- Experimental Printmaking and Photography
- Sculpture, Structures and Installations
Towards the end of the course you will take these techniques and apply them to a personal project of your choosing, with guidance from your tutor. You will leave with sketchbooks full of ideas, a number of finished artworks and new technical abilities, all of which will help inspire you in the future.
This promises to be an exciting and unique experience for any 13-15 year-old who is:
- Interested in developing their own creativity
- Building a portfolio for future studies
- Confident in learning from their mistakes
- Keen to work with students of different nationalities
- Willing to work and collaborate with others during projects
- Wishing to develop their skills in communicating ideas
