Life Drawing for Beginners

Life Drawing for Beginners

Tania Denton

In this course students who have had no previous experience of life drawing and who might have felt slightly intimidated about joining a class with more experienced students will be encouraged to develop at their own pace while working with the model. They will be introduced to the fundamentals of the form and structure of the human figure and the variety of ways in which this
understanding can be interpreted and expressed in drawing, from the objective and analytical to the more personal and intuitive. Over the duration of the course you will explore proportion, scale, composition, perspective and the form in space. You will also look at anatomy as it relates to concepts of form and structure, as well as line, tone, shape, the means of expression, rhythm and movement and the natural flow of the human form. You will also develop your skills in light and the use of chiaroscuro and improve your techniques in mark-making.

Tania Denton is a fine art graduate from Central St Martins, and a practicing artist based in London. She has extensive experience in teaching, including: life drawing, foundation in drawing and painting.
