Experimental Drawing
Jane Grisewood
If you have an enthusiasm for drawing and want to expand your drawing skills, then Experimental Drawing is for you. This course is ideal for artists at all levels as well as students who are planning to apply to college and need to develop a portfolio. The aim is to give you the opportunity and encouragement to move into new areas, as well as to challenge and broaden your drawing experience. Particular emphasis is given to drawing as discovery, experimenting with line, tone, texture, scale and composition, and developing a range of new skills by working with different subjects (from still life to the life model), processes, tools and media. The tutor will take you through a variety of visual examples and styles, and introduce alternative methods of drawing, from monoprinting to collage, alongside experimenting with charcoal and graphite, crayons and pastels, ink and mixed media. You will be able to develop work with the guidance of the tutor, document processes in sketchbooks, exchange ideas with fellow students and discuss the work of relevant artists and exhibitions.
Jane Grisewood is a practising artist and tutor. She studied her Masters in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins where she recently completed her PhD (practice-based), extending her interest in drawing and the line. See www.janegrisewood.com.
