How To Become An Independent Curator - Evening
Sarah Sparkes
This course is designed to help you think critically about the role of the curator, and to find new ways of engaging the public with art. It will provide you with a tool kit with which to become an independent curator. Each session is structured around: Content and Context, Budgets and Fundraising, and Partners and Marketing. You will gain an insight into contemporary curating, go on site visits, make presentations and meet professionals in the field. Having completed the course you will have the confidence and a thorough understanding of how to develop and present your own, independently curated projects.
Sarah Sparkes is an artist and independent curator. She has organised numerous collaborative and solo projects, working with both UK and international artists and realizing ambitious events and exhibitions in both public and private spaces. She graduated with an MA in painting from Chelsea College of Art and Design and frequently exhibits her own work. A qualified HE Lecturer, she has taught within both academic and non-academic environments and is currently lecturing in Fne Art and Independent Curating at a number of London institutions.
