Urban Sketchbook for 16 - 18
Howard Read
Walk and draw the urban landscape from skaters on the south bank to peace protesters in parliament square. Record public lettering and street fashion – how many hair cuts can you draw in 10 minutes – improve your observational drawing skills and experiment with new techniques from paint to simple experimental print workshops back in the studio. You will create a visual diary and sketchbook and have more worked up, completed drawings at the end of this course
This will help anyone preparing a portfolio or just interested and curious to express themselves through drawing and sketching in the urban London landscape whether applying for Graphics, Fine art or a Fashion course.
Howard Read is a freelance illustrator and a graduate of the Royal College of Art. He teaches on the BA Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins.
