Life Painting for 16 - 18 Year Olds
Chris Koning
A course for any student considering further study within the arts, this is a great opportunity to hone your visual skills and develop new confidence in your abilities. Using acrylic paint for its quick-drying properties, we will paint from the model working through a variety of exercises around tone and composition. Come prepared to think differently about what you see, and be prepared to leave with some great work for your portfolio.
Chris Koning is a practising artist with extensive experience teaching drawing and painting. She received her MA from Central Saint Martins in 2002 and completed her formal teaching qualification in 2008. Her work can be seen at www.chriskoning.com.
Alternative Dates and Times
Many of our courses are repeated throughout the year. If the above dates is not suitable for you,
or there are no dates showing for this session, then please choose an alternative session.
Please bring with you to the first session:
- Two/four large cheap brushes (called 'rounds')
- Cup or jar for water
- Paper towels or a rag
- Large palette or palette pad or greaseproof paper
- Spray bottle for water (can be a recycled Windex bottle, for instance)
- Large tubes of the following ACRYLIC colours: black, white (titanium white, not zinc or lead white), burnt or raw umber, prussian or ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, cadmium or other bright red.
- Please do not bring oil paints as they take too long to dry. You will be taught basic oil paint techniques using acrylic paint. We will be painting on gessoed paper but feel free to bring in canvases if you can carry them. A1 size is good.
