Foundation Preparation for 16-18 Year Old IB Students
Sophie Gorton and others
This three-week course is ideal for International Baccalaureate students aged 16 - 18 who need to be better equipped to apply to a Foundation course, whether at Central Saint Martins or elsewhere. Most IB art and design students find they have learnt the technical skills but lack key skills that Foundation tutors are looking for, such as research skills, sketchbook development, idea generation, decision making and development skills. Throughout the course a range of 3-day projects will address different discipline areas within art and design. You will complete projects that encompass fine art and performance, 3D design, graphics and communication and fashion and textiles, giving you the broadest possible portfolio and the most comprehensive experience of studying at Foundation level. Upon successful completion you will have a huge amount of work in progress, examples of research and development and a new found confidence to work independently outside of the IB curriculum on your own work and ideas. The course is not about creating finished artwork but about the processes involved in making mature, informed decisions about your own practice, and how to present your work in the most engaging portfolio possible.
This course will be taught by a variety of tutors from the Foundation course at Central Saint Martins.
