Lasmin Ellis

This course is designed especially for mature students who are interested in applying for courses in art and design and need to prepare a portfolio to make an application at the appropriate level (e.g. for Further or Higher Education). Students on this course should already have a sense of purpose towards art and design. A key element of the couse is portfolio building, designed to help students to apply for specialist programmes upon completion of the course. Clearly defined projects will provide an opportunity for you to experience a wide variety of approaches and techniques. Project work is progressive and includes a Personal Project selected by the student. In addition, students are set and expected to carry out a different home assignment each week. You will be encouraged to discuss ideas and will learn how to identify your own lines of enquiry. Progression after the course may include application to a recognised Foundation Course or an Undergraduate Course. In some cases, if a student already has a 1^st degree and shows ability, they may be able to apply for a postgraduate course of study.
