Oil Painting Techniques - Daytime
Roger Gill
Learning the techniques of mixing and applying oil paint to a canvas or support is one of the key skills required for oil painting, opening up completely new vistas for students wishing to paint. On this course you will start by looking at the inspiration, ideas, and techniques of a variety of modern painters, and see how they applied these to their own paintings.
You will then assimilate these techniques and use them, together with your own subject matter, inspiration and ideas, to create good, solid oil paintings. The techniques will include, glazing, impasto, colour mixing and application, use of pigments and waxes, dripping, pouring and spray painting.
You will need a good selection of oil paints, mediums, and equipment
This course is suitable for people who have some experience of oil painting and want to learn new techniques to push their practice further.
Roger Gill is an artist and freelance tutor who works in London and who has exhibited in the UK and Europe. See www.rogergill.org.
