Beginners Painting
Alice White
Structured around the life model, this course introduces the fundamental skills required for the manipulation of acrylic and oil paint, developing an understanding of technique and approach whilst encouraging experimentation and individual development at all times. The course provides instruction in mark-making techniques, human proportion and compositional skills, colour theory and its place in contemporary art and art history, together with instruction on the construction, use and preparation of canvas stretchers. The course culminates in the study of combined practice, in which all acquired techniques are brought together in the creation of a completed painting. Absolute beginners are welcome, as are those who wish to strengthen their portfolio application to further studies. It is essential that students attend the first session for an introduction to the course and an in-depth lecture on materials and practice.
Alice White is a graduate of Chelsea College of Art. She works exclusively from the figure and has exhibited widely across London. Her work can also be found in a number of private collections.
