Drawing Now

Bettina Reiber MA

Contemporary drawing is as much based on ideas as on skills. This course will address both issues. We will experiment with line, texture and marks, observe and record the effects of light and dark and represent space and form. You will develop a series of pieces which explore ideas that are significant to you. If this sounds daunting, remember that the course will offer strategies which enable you to clarify and visualise your ideas. We will use sketchbooks and discuss work by other artists in relation to your concerns. We will experiment with collage and image transfer, charcoal, chalks, pencil and mixed media. The course is suitable for beginners, as a refresher, and for those who want to push their drawing practice further.

Bettina Reiber is a practising artist, who works mostly in painting and drawing. Some of her work is based on collaborations. She is a curator and exhibits widely. She publishes papers on aesthetics and art theory. She holds a BA Fine Art (painting) from Central St. Martins and an MA in Aesthetics and Art Theory.
