Creative Drawing

Ruth Eisenhart BA (Hons) Dip A. Printmaking

We all have within us an innate sense of beauty and harmony and a longing for wholeness and fulfilment. Ruth Eisenhart believes that through our intuition and natural sense of play we are able to make contact with our creative energy, thereby learning to 'see' as opposed to merely looking. Her course entails drawing from the model using a wide variety of traditional instruments such as bamboo and quill pens, charcoal, conte, chinese ink and brushes. Students are guided through a series of techniques and exercises (sometimes using movement and music), which were developed by the eminent artist and teacher Cecil Collins, who taught at the Central School of Arts and Crafts for more than 30 years. The class is suitable for beginners as well as advanced students, or anyone who feels 'stuck' and wants to revitalise their creativity.

Ruth Eisenhart studied with Cecil Collins for many years. She incorporates some of his unique methods as well as her own intuitive understanding and style into her teaching in order to help students realise their own creative potential.
