Drawing for 16 - 18 Year Olds
Sion Ap Tomos MA (RCA)
Do you like to draw? Perhaps you need drawings for a portfolio submission. This class will take you on a hands-on, whirlwind ride through drawing techniques, exercises, styles, materials and subjects, from raw sketching to more developed studies. Different types of drawing will be examined, including drawing on location, still-life, interiors, fantasy, fashion, animals, nature, cityscapes and so on. You will explore various drawing media and you will have the chance to further develop some of your drawings into watercolour, pastel and other media or on your computer. The course will include individual reviews, group critiques and discussions of drawings by accomplished artists, demonstrations, encouragement and lots of drawing time. The idea is to survey this vast field, learn from your fellow students and tutor, find where your interests and abilities lie and achieve some brilliant new work.
Sion Ap Tomos is a practising artist and has been teaching drawing on the BA Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins for five years.
