Drawing - Transformation
Bettina Reiber
On this course we explore facets of transformation. We experiment with ways in which to appropriate and rework found material and your own photographs or sketches into a new set of works. We experiment with drawings that expand beyond the edges of the paper combining drawing with aspects of installation art, interactive and site specific practices. Through appropriate presentation and documentation you generate a visual track record of these transformations which evidences the development of your ideas. This mirrors the postmodern working process. The stages of the course are underpinned by presentations and discussions in the light of work by relevant artists such as Jake and Dinos Chapman, Daniel Guzmán, Julie Mehretu, Claudia and Julia Müller, Paul Noble and Nedko Solakow. In case you are considering to apply to a Further Education or Higher Education art course your works from this course would be an excellent asset to your portfolio. Some previous experience in drawings is helpful but not essential. We will use a wide range of drawing materials including mixed media.
Bettina Reiber is a practising artist, who works mostly in painting and drawing. Some of her work is based on collaborations. She is a curator and exhibits widely. She publishes papers on aesthetics and art theory. She holds a BA Fine Art (painting) from Central St. Martins and an MA in Aesthetics and Art Theory.
