Machine Knitting - Accessories - Intermediate Level

Machine Knitting - Accessories - Intermediate Level

Alice Wellbeloved

This course is aimed at anyone with an intermediate knowledge of machine knitting.   On this course you will learn how to knit socks, hats, gloves and mittens, with an emphasis on creativity and experimentation with yarn, colour and composition. You will also learn several different methods for trims and finishings to achieve a professional looking accessory.

Students may also experiment with other types of accessory such as brooches, adornments and other body pieces - rather than a set curriculum you will be given time in between each set of technical demonstrations to explore fully your ideas and materials.

Students must have prior experience of a knitting machine, ideally having completed the beginners course - or similar. Prior experience of accessory making is not needed.

Alice Wellbeloved gained a BA in Textile Design and an MA in Fashion Knitwear from Central Saint Martins. Since graduating in 2002 she has worked in as head knitwear designer for several luxury brands including Christian Lacroix, Sonia Rykiel, Aquascutum and Viktor and Rolf. She also teaches textiles, fashion and knitwear at Foundation and BA level at Central Saint Martins.
