Fashion Summer School for 13-15 Year Olds

Fashion Summer School for 13-15 Year Olds

Session 1: Celia Wain-Heapy

Session 2:  John Booth

To meet the needs of our younger audience Central Saint Martins has created a range of short, residential courses, held in Buckinghamshire, England. Using the talents of our Foundation and Short course tutors the courses are all three weeks long and involve practical designing and making. The aim is to give you an experience of art school and help you to build skills and develop new work for your portfolio.

Central Saint Martins is internationally famous for fashion design. Ex-students include Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson and John Galliano, to name just four. On this fashion course you will explore the design process very much in the spirit of the college, where your own personal and explorative approach will be celebrated.

Subjects will include:

  • Research and Idea Generation
  • Fashion and Accessory Design
  • Fashion Illustration and Presentation Skills
  • Working in 3D - Silhouettes and Draping
  • Fashion Styling and Marketing
  • Textile Design for Fashion

This course is ideal if you are considering fashion or textiles as a future career, or if you wish to try something new and have a passion for fashion and the fashion industry. Upon completion you will have had an insight into fashion at Central Saint Martins and new skills to help you continue designing and styling your own collection.

This promises to be an exciting and unique experience for any 13-15 year-old who is:

  • Interested in developing their own creativity
  • Building a portfolio for future studies
  • Confident in learning from their mistakes
  • Keen to work with students of different nationalities
  • Willing to work and collaborate with others during projects
  • Wishing to develop their skills in communicating ideas
