Patternmaking - Part 2 - Evening Course

Patternmaking - Part 2 - Evening Course

Louis Loizou

This course builds on Patternmaking - Level 1. You will apply already learned rules of basic patternmaking methodology to enhance your existing knowledge. Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practise and develop your skills and aesthetic values. With this understanding and knowledge in place, you will be able to draw on these skills to further develop the art of patternmaking and to realise your three dimensional designs. The course content will cover tailored/shirt collars, tailored/raglan sleeves and various dress and trouser styles. It will also include style lines and adding fullness through gathers and pleats. You will be taught how to use specialist equipment, pattern terminology, and the correct written and drawn information that should be on the patterns. A good basic knowledge of patternmaking is required if you are to benefit from this short programme.

Louis Loizou is a Senior Lecturer on the BA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins and works as a toilist/patternmaker.
