Patternmaking - Experimental and Explorative Approaches Part 2
Jill Entwistle
Experimental and Explorative Approaches Part 2 - Intermediate
Central Saint Martins is renowned for its innovative and open-minded approach to the creative process. This short intensive course builds on Experimental & Explorative Approaches 1 and explores some unconventional and inventive approaches to patternmaking and shape creation. You will be encouraged to think 'outside the box' and experiment with two dimensional abstract, geometric shapes, complex cavities and observe how they work on the body as 3 dimensional forms. The course intends to lead you on a journey of discovery at the end of which, it is hoped, you will rethink your approach to design and patternmaking. Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practise and develop your skills and aesthetic values. Some knowledge of patternmaking will be useful to follow this programme. The ability to use a sewing machine is essential if you are to benefit from this course. It is also essential to have an open mind, be willing to experiment and take risks. Part 2 builds on Part 1 and is also suitable for those with intermediate pattern cutting skills.
