Couture Tailoring
Natalie Born-Westin
This course is for anyone with experienced sewing skills, who would like to learn the high-end of fashion making. It concentrates on the production of a quality couture garment and will offer the specialist skills that are necessary for a woman's couture tailored garment.
You will be working on a woman's half couture jacket and taken through the different steps of construction using a combination of hand stitching and machine-sewing skills. This includes pad stitching, edge finishes, collar application, pocket insertion, hand canvassing and facings.
Alongside the practical work a reference file will be developed containing notes and illustrations of the different stages covered in your practical example.
Natalie Born-Westin studied Fashion Design Womenswear at Central Saint Martins. She has several years' experience in designing and making high fashion. She currently works as a freelance designer in the fashion industry.
