How to Start Your Own Fashion Business
Lynnette Murphy
If you have ever had the dream of having your own fashion company, why not start to make that dream come true? Initially you will have an introduction to the fashion industry and how it operates. You will then be encouraged to develop and discuss your own ideas, however big or small. You will create a customer profile, do trend research relevant to your area and do a competitor shop report. You will be informed about trade shows, PR and marketing and, finally, you will start a business plan to help you to see if your ideas are realistic and focused. The aim of the course is to get you started, show you where and how to get advice and grants and how to develop your ideas.
Throughout this course there will be lectures and workshops which will inform you about the process of setting up a fashion business. The course covers creative as well as business aspects and is aimed at those with no knowledge of the fashion industry as well as those with experience. Individual advice and guidance is given during a project which is tailored to your requirements. Even if you have no intention of setting up in business you may find this course helps you on a new career path in the field of fashion.
Lynnette Murphy has been running her own design consultancy business whilst teaching fashion design and marketing at various colleges for many years.
