Create Your Own Fashion Film

Create Your Own Fashion Film

Schelay McCarter

Keeping apace of fashion innovation and having a multi skill base is important in today's design and marketing world of frequent change and digital visual development.

As professional photographers often now shoot film and digital stills at the same time for clients, it is important that Creatives understand this medium and it's potential. This course rolls art/creative direction, styling and film making and directing into one.

Working in teams you will develop your idea on a story board promoting a Luxury or High Street brand or your own new fashion brand business or collection. We will look at who are the leading brands in fashion film innovation. We will explore fashion trends/art and fashion photography history looking at how this impacts on the evolution of commercial ideas for selling fashion brands in today’s digital market place. We will look at the techniques and tools available for filmic 'story telling' such as music, lighting, styling, cropping, pace and focus available for creating mood and atmosphere.

Students will organise the models, hair and make-up styling and props for their film in their own time.

With expert advice of a Film specialist tutor from Central Saint Martins you will use our state of the art Film Studio and technical facilities to make their film and experiment with film techniques. Editing of the fashion films will done in house by a CSM technician. The films will be presented for viewing in the last week of the course.

Schelay McCarter has worked in the fashion forecasting industry, then as an Art Director for Marks and Spencer before creating 'fashiontent' for Art/Creative Direction/PR/Journalism and design projects. For more information visit schelay.blogspot.com or www.schelay.co.uk.
