This course focuses on trend prediction, specifically within fashion. This is an increasingly important area within fashion and crucial to many large companies, small designer/makers and industry in general. If you are eager to learn about the emergence of trends and in particular London's role in influencing trends worldwide this course is a must. You will examine the art of trend prediction and then be introduced to key areas of London where trend prediction teams seek out the 'new' and 'underground' - Portobello Road, Spitalfields, Brick Lane, Camden Market, Hoxton and vintage clothing retailers.

Melanie Ashley gained a BA HONS in FASHION from Central St MArtins. After Graduating in 2009 she has worked for high profile people in the creative industries namely prolific fashion PR agent Mandi Lennard, High flying photographic agent Camilla Lowther, Stylist Jane How and Gallariest Maureen Paly. Projects include launching designer Gareth Pugh in Paris, launching Katie Grand's magazine LOVE in 2009 and currently Melanie is working freelance, continuing to produce her graduate publication BLOOM BLOOM and working as one of musical artist MIA's london based assistants.

Please bring with you to the first session:

  • Drawing kit - pens, pencils, eraser and sharpener
  • Colour felt tip markers, colour pencils etc
  • Pritt stick or glue stick
  • Camera (film or digital)
  • Zone 1 & 2 Travelcard or Oyster card
  • Entry to the Museum or Gallery - Allow between £5 and £10.
  • Personal Laptop - ( optional / not essential).
