How To Design a Couture Collection

How To Design a Couture Collection

Maggie Doyle

This course is for all students wishing to design and learn about Couture collections. Using templates provided (or you may develop your own) you will learn drawing and design  techniques used when creating a Couture collection.

Inks, pastels and markers will be used to render couture fabrics. There will be lessons on how to render satins, voiles, and jacquards. Samples will be provided to inspire these collections. The course will include a day of Fashion life drawing and visits related to couture designers and fabrics.

To complement this there will be lessons on how to draw shoes and render hairstyles and make-up.  A history of the development of Haute Couture to present day will further your knowledge of  this fascinating subject.

By the end of your studies you will have produced a small portfolio of designs together with the appropriate fabrics.  Students and designers of all abilities and levels would benefit from this course.

Maggie has designed for many years in Paris, both in ready to wear and haute couture. She also taught for over ten years at Esmod in Paris and Lyon. She is currently teaching at Croydon College.
