Designing a Commercial Fashion Collection

Designing a Commercial Fashion Collection

Ian Kettle MA (RCA)

How do you turn your ideas into something that will sell? Starting with thorough research, each student will discover which elements are vital for any collection to succeed, through press and hype as well as through commerciality and real innovation. You will start from a simple brief to design a capsule or complete collection for your chosen market. Working with a simple and quick drawing style and on the stand with fabric to enhance your flat designs, you will work from your research ideas to design a contemporary, commercial collection. Students will finish the course with fully styled, directional illustrations and readable, presentable, thorough design work for their portfolio. In order to benefit from this course you should have basic drawing skills.
