Cutting Edge Fashion

Cutting Edge Fashion

Stephanie Cooper

The most directional cutting edge designs are discovered by working directly on a dress stand. On this course you will explore innovative concepts using a variety of abstract research pathways to inspire you to create experimental 3D shapes. Inspiration can be found among art in all its forms, historical clothing references, architecture and images gathered from London streets. Working instinctively and reacting to your research you will discover a design process through 3D experimentation and drawing, culminating in creating a final piece and a research book in which you will document all your design development. While pattern cutting and sewing will not be taught, this course will develop your skills in creating fashion as a 3D form and allow you to explore your creativity in the fashion school environment.

Stephanie Cooper is a tutor on the First Year BA (Hons) Fashion course at Central Saint Martins.
