Illustration for Footwear Design - Evenings
Chris Hill
Whether you are a practising designer, studying fashion footwear or simply want to express your design ideas, the ability to illustrate footwear professionally is crucial. Footwear illustration is a specialist skill, but whatever your ability level, this course will equip you with the skills to produce strong drawings and realise your designs.
Starting from the basics you will be trained in how to illustrate both design development sketches and realistic "technical specs". We will look at illustration for portfolio presentation and you will be encouraged to develop your own personal style in a variety of mediums. Use of Photoshop as an illustration tool will be explored. Techniques for illustrating men's, women's and children's footwear will be covered and we will look at a variety of types and styles of footwear, as well as the illustration work of well know shoe designers.
Chris Hill has worked in the footwear fashion business in Europe, India and the Far East. She has designed and developed shoes for all areas of the market. She has been Head of Footwear for the UK retailer Hobbs and has also taught at the footwear college Cordwainers, where her students included Jimmy Choo, Emma Hope and Patrick Cox.
