Bag Design and Communication
Riz Smith
Using the discipline of bag design as a starting point, this course will provide the basic fundamentals of design communication. There are three stages to the course. You will begin with understanding design investigation, involving trend analysis and prediction. You will then progress to design interpretation, using sketches and computer aided design. You will then complete your designs and research by investigating material selection and suitability for manufacture. The course will provide an understanding of all these areas as well as an overview of the manufacturing process and techniques required for bag design. At the end of the week you will leave with a full portfolio of design ideas, plenty of visual research and a clear idea of how to translate an idea into a real object. This course is suitable for anyone who has some fashion or general design experience and wishes to channel their talents to this exciting industry.
