Computers for Textile Design
Tutor to be Confirmed
The computer facilitates many aspects of the creative process for textile designers, particularly for visualisation and experimentation. The aim of this course is to offer new opportunities for textile designers, or teachers of textiles, to explore their creative options by using a computer to extend beyond the traditional methods. Those completely new to designing on the computer will be welcome, although it is advisable that you have some computer experience before you enrol. Adobe Photoshop will be the principal software used. This course will be taught on the PC and will look at the range of possibilities for producing imagery on screen, painting, drawing and image manipulation and creating patterns, repeats and textures. You will also investigate colour reduction and palettes for colourways, the use of scanners and printers, file management and storage and ways of further developing and presenting ideas which have been computer generated.
