Digital Design for Furniture and Fashion Fabrics

Digital Design for Furniture and Fashion Fabrics

Jemima Gregson

This course is a dynamic 'fashion forward' approach to contemporary interior design. The defining borders between fashion and interiors have become blurred so that a new form of lifestyle has evolved. Leading lights in fashion have now turned their hands to everything from the simple scatter cushion to tableware design. As a textile designer one has no choice but to move with the times and investigate the possibilities that interior design has to offer. This course gives you an insight into the possibilities that computers can offer in contemporary textile design. Adobe Photoshop will be the principal program used to develop skills and understanding of computer aided design. The course begins by looking into trend analysis within fashion and interiors. Day by day we will develop your understanding of how fashion and interiors compliment one another and of how Photoshop is a key element in the design process. You will leave the course with a portfolio of designs, visual research and a collection of images from which you can independently create your own soft furnishings.

Jemima Gregson is a freelance textile designer and a visiting lecturer at Chelsea College of Art and Design.
