Patternmaking - Level 1 - Evenings - Mondays - (Term-Time)
Lee Benjamin
This short course has been designed to meet the needs of those who want to learn and practice the art of patternmaking. Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practice and develop your skills and aesthetic values. With this understanding and knowledge in place, you will be able to draw on these skills to further develop the art of patternmaking and realise your three dimensional designs. Working from size 10 fashion blocks, the course content will cover the basic rules of creating various garment components such as bodice dart manipulations, simple sleeves and skirts. This will also include various design style lines and adding fullness through gathers and pleats. You will be taught how to use specialist equipment, pattern terminology, and the correct written and drawn information that should be on finished patterns. No patternmaking experience is necessary for this course.
Lee Benjamin has been constructing garments for Fashion and Costume for over 25 years and as an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins since 2008, teaches pattern-cutting skills to BA Fashion students.
