Knitting for Beginners

Knitting for Beginners

Rowena Luke-King

This beginners course offers an innovative approach to hand knitting whilst teaching you the basic steps and allowing you to progress at your own pace to a more advanced level. Starting with simple knit and purl combinations such as garter stitch, stocking stitch, moss stitch and rib, you will learn how to follow knitting instructions as you create a reference book of swatches and move on to more complicated patterns including cable and lace. Whilst experimenting with traditional and improvised yarns you will learn how to shape your work, introduce different colours, felt and add beads, embroidery and decorative trimmings such as crochet edges, tassels, pom-poms and knitted flowers. Those who wish to can work on sketch pads and story-boards for a portfolio collection. Others may choose to create small individual pieces such as hats, socks, tea cosies etc.

No previous experience is needed for this course.
