Couture Tailoring
Natalie Born-Westin
This course is for anyone with sewing skills who would like to learn the high-end of fashion making. It concentrates on the production of quality couture garments and will offer the specialist skills that are necessary for a tailored garment. You will be working on a half-sized couture jacket and will be taken through the different steps of construction using hand stitching and machine-sewing skills. This includes hand canvassing, edge finishes, collar application, pocket insertion and facing. Alongside the practical work a reference file will be developed containing notes and illustrations of the different stages covered in the practical example.
Natalie Born-Westin studied Fashion Design Womenswear at Central Saint Martins. She has several years experience in designing and making high fashion. She currently works as a freelance designer in the fashion industry.
