In this course we will look at the growth of the fashion magazine and the rise of independent publishing over the past ten years. Alongside this you will be examining magazine graphics and layout, the different job roles within a magazine, who are the movers and shakers within the industry, career opportunities, how magazines generate money and target their audience. You will work in small groups to develop a concept for a commercially viable magazine, which will include coming up with a title, mission statement, visual identity and content ideas. On completion, you will pitch this concept to the tutor and other course members.

Jason Hughes is a stylist and fashion consultant, he is also the creative and editorial director of b Magazine.
