Accessories for Beginners
Lucy Fine MA (RCA)
Do you have a creative eye and wish to learn basic skills in accessory design and making? Do you wish to create your own collection but feel the need for guidance? During this course you will develop studio-based design, research and portfolio building skills whilst learning basic accessory construction. There will be an emphasis on recycled materials and fastenings, using textile stores, second-hand shops and markets throughout London. This course will be low-tech, so no previous sewing or pattern cutting skills are required. So long as you have lots of ideas, are interested in researching fabrics and can hand sew and embellish, then this class will be suitable. By the end of the course you will leave with at least one finished piece (for example one bag or one belt) for a capsule collection, plus a sketchbook of ideas which will be a valuable addition to your portfolio.
Lucy Fine graduated from the Royal College of Art and is a freelance fashion and accessory designer and teaches design and making skills in various colleges in London.
