Creative Fashion Design with Illustrator

Creative Fashion Design with Illustrator

Riz Smith

In today's world of fashion, companies are looking for creative people who can communicate their designs quickly and neatly. The challenge faced by designers using computers is to create, produce, share and deliver ideas on a tight schedule whilst retaining their creativity. The course focuses on the vector based design package Adobe Illustrator and is aimed at people with a fashion design background or working in the fashion industry. Little or no computer experience is required. The course will evolve from beginner to advanced level over its duration. Students will learn how to: make flat drawings of garments in a fast and precise way, build a library of trims and design details. Visualize, render, layout and share electronically their design ideas. Once the course is completed, students will have produced, in printed and digital format, all the common items used by design studios to communicate ideas, such as mood and design concept boards, collection maps, sketches and technical design sheets.
The Course is based on Kevin Tallon's best selling textbook Creative Fashion Design with Illustrator. It includes tried and tested teaching methodologies suited to the fast moving fashion industry. Student will also benefit from latest updates with printed hand-outs tutorials.

Riz Smith is a British menswear designer, based in London. Commercially Riz has seen a successful career spanning from beachwear to smart casualwear. Experienced in evolving ideas from concept and managing the design process through to final production.
