Veronica Shattuck 

This intensive course provides any aspiring designer or fashionista with all they need to know about fibres and fabrics, and how they relate to creative fashion design and the fashion industry.

They will learn about natural and manmade fibres, their properties, and how to recognize them; also how to identify various weaves and knit fabrics, etc . and to make informed knowledgeable choices for their design projects or lifestyle.  Participants will create their own fabric reference book to take away and handouts of lectures will also be provided.

Veronica Shattuck has over 30 years experience in marketing and promotion of textiles, fibres and fabrics in the fashion industry.  She has launched and marketed new fibres in both the UK and Europe. She has developed new yarns and fabric ranges with the leading, directional companies worldwide and organized licensing arrangements for fashion designers.  Veronica Shattuck has marketed natural and manmade fibres, including wool at headquarters for the International Wool Secretariat, in England and America, and was Global Marketing Director for the Mohair fibre business, producing the Marketing Plan and repositioning that industry from fibre to garment.

Whilst in the USA she was an Associate Professor of Textiles in the Design, Art and Architectural School of a University.  In London, as well as running her own marketing business, she was the Industrial Liaison tutor for London College of Fashion, placing third year students in their jobs in the UK and around the world.  In addition, as a visiting lecturer for 20 years she has organized and run a Fibres and Fabrics Course for the Fashion Design Department at Central Saint Martins for all pathways.

Veronica Shattuck is a committee member of the London chapter of the Textile Institute and   she is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London.
