Fashion Styling for Professionals

Fashion Styling for Professionals

Jason Hughes

Style is an attitude, and for some it is a lifestyle must. We are surrounded by images created to tell a story. This course takes a more in-depth look at the rise of the stylist within the fashion industry. We will look at the many different roles of fashion stylists today (editorial, commercial and catwalk styling), at who are the movers and shakers within the industry, at the fashion magazine market, at fashion photographers, at London Fashion Week and the city's booming design talent, and how to successfully identify catwalk trends. Students will work in small groups to produce their own fashion story pitched at a magazine of their choice. This will be shot at the end of the second week. Students will be working with a professional photographer and models to realise their ideas. On completion, students will be asked to present their images as a fashion story layout.

Jason Hughes is a stylist and fashion consultant, he is also the creative and editorial director of b Magazine.
